In my first two directing roles, I have started to discover my directing style. I believe that any play or musical that is produced should be a collaborative process between all departments.

 

As a director, I want to encourage my actors to make their own choices regarding who their character is, how they interact with the world, how they present themselves, and how they are impacted by the events in the script.

I encourage conversations between myself and my actors. If they disagree with a directing choice, or if they have a specific point of view that they feel strongly about, I do my best to support those ideas. I believe that this kind of collaboration helps young actors to think creatively, take risks, and teaches collaboration.
